If you want to See Fall Leaves, Plan for It

Fall is going to be here soon. So, chances are you are probably looking for a place to get away and see those fall leaves change colors. In doing so, you need to plan carefully as the weather of course is dependent upon location.

Well, I am from Wisconsin so all I have to do is drive a little further up North. The further North you travel the sooner the leaves change. Of course, this is because the colder air is what causes the leaves to change colors before the winter season.

Remember that tip, because if you plan to see foliage changing while traveling out west you may be disappointed if you leave too soon. Remember the climate is quite a bit warmer in places such as California, Arizona, or Nevada. Some locations in the Western United States do have a fall and winter but it is not at all at the same time as in the Midwestern or Northern and Northeastern states.

If you are not sure when the peak leaf change time is for a specific location, you probably can find out by researching the local area. For instance, I had read and learned that if you want to see leaves in the Boston Harbor Islands in Massachusetts you should so between mid September and Early October.

That is actually about the same time you would see the fall leaves change colors in Northeastern Wisconsin. However, when you travel up North to Northwestern Wisconsin the peak change times might even be more towards the beginning of September.

You may also be able to find great places to scope out fall leaves if you look up places via this Travel Atlas.
