Fall is going to be here soon. So, chances are you are probably looking for a place to get away and see those fall leaves change colors. In doing so, you need to plan carefully as the weather of course is dependent upon location.

Well, I am from Wisconsin so all I have to do is drive a little further up North. The further North you travel the sooner the leaves change. Of course, this is because the colder air is what causes the leaves to change colors before the winter season.

The East Coast is one of the most favorite places to see fall leaves change. The further north you travel of course the earlier you will see foliage changes because the north experiences much colder temperatures much sooner.

List of Northeastern U.S. Fall Travel Spots

New England-This has long been a favorite spot to witness the changing of the season by the way this state’s foliage turns from green to a rainbow of earthy colors. This region’s breakdown includes the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.

Maryland-Particularly in Baltimore, this is one prime place to see the changing leaves. This happens to be one very romantic place to go. Locations such the C&O Canal Towpath and St. Mary’s River State Park, and Jane’s Island State Park are ideal places for outdoorsy and adventurous people who need to get away.

New York-Upstate New York in the Catskills and Adirondacks is one place people often frequent to see nature’s glorious transitional foliage. However, later in the fall (Late October/Early November) you may notice changes right in the heart of The City, particularly in Central Park.

Pennsylvania-Philadelphia is one favorite spot. Of course, the Pennsylvania Hills is another prime location for viewing fall leaves change colors. Furthermore, in the northern region Endless Mountains and Susquehanna River can be seen from Upstate PA and the Marie Antoinette Lookout. The central region holds the heart of the Delaware River, and the southern region is home of Bucks County and Brandywine Valley.

New York Pass fall travel New York Pass travelers! New York City is actually one of the prime places to see fall leaves within the state. I would have never guessed it-though as cultured of a place New York is-trees?

I don't even remember them being there when I visited. Although, New York has Central Park which is very beautiful so I guess I am slightly convinced the more I think about it. Who would have thought?

Well, I really did not think of it much until now. That gives you one more thing to look out for-and not to mention free as the best things always are. This is a site to see even if you have a lower traveling budget this year.

Besides, if you already spend money on those Broadway show tickets you can appreciate a little bit of nature's show after wards. Maybe you can even arrange an afternoon picnic in Central Park one day during your visit, or in between visiting various New York Pass attractions such as the Guggenheim Museum, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, and Top of the Rock.

So, when are they at their peak in New York City? If you are asking this you need not worry. The City is one of the last places they were turn. Therefore, you still have time to see the leaves even if you have scheduled your New York Pass visit not for quite a few weeks yet. In fact, New York City fall leave changes are not expected to take place until Late October/Early November.

Just before this time is also when the leaves are expected to transform on Long Island. For now you don't want to miss out on Upstate New York action in the Catskills and Adirondacks locations. Before you know it, these may already be bare.

If you want to see leaves in Upstate New York before they fall for the winter now is the time to take a drive to Mt. Arab, Tupper Lake, and adjacent Franklin County locations. You better hurry because these leaf changes were predicted already over a week ago and 45 percent of the leaves in some locations are probably already transformed, according to predictions from last week.

Summary of Upstate New York Fall Leaves Reports

According to predictions from last week this is the percentage of change in specific localities (up until this past weekend, on until today, the first day of autumn).

Aridondacks Locations

Mt. Arab and Tupper Lake (Franklin County)-45% foliage color change to copper, yellow, orange, and scarlet; green background
Old Forge-30%-to 50% foliage change to burgundy, red, and orange
Upper Hudson River Gorge-(North Creek area, Warren County)-25% change to orange and red
Whiteface Mountain (Wilmington, Essex County)-20% leaf change to brick red, orange, and yellow

When one ton of plastic is recycled a total of 7.4 cubic yards of landfill space is not used.
It can take up to 100 years for aluminum cans to decompose, and over a million years for glass to decompose.

Comprehensive Fall Tulip Care Before, During, and After Planting

Long after fall tulip planting and your flowers had already bloomed, your job is still not done. (This process probably reminds mothers of how their job taking children is not done, even long after they have become adults!)

Helpful Care Tips

You should know what USDA Hardiness Zone you live in. This will determine exactly when your fall tulip bulbs should be planted, which is usually about six weeks before the ground freezes (when the ground reaches a temperature of approximately 60 degrees).

You should prepare your soil properly to ensure that your plants will grow right. Most species of this very precious flower enjoy sandy, well-drained soil. If the soil is not perfect, you can work it using info present in the very next tip.

Peat moss can help lighten and dry the soil if it is too rich or too moist. You can also create mounds on which to plant your flowers so that the water does drain off properly when it rains. It might help to create a small trench around your flower beds for the water to escape to.

Make sure you plant them at about 6 inches below the surface. Ideally, you should dig about one foot into the ground or mound and then add your peat moss or other natural fertilizer to about half way up before planting the bulb.

Give your plants plenty of water, but remember not to drench the bulbs. Otherwise, they could possibly "drown" and die. They could also become diseased if a fungus attacks the moist bulb.

Fertilize your plants in the early fall and early spring. Of course, the best time is after and before they bloom again.

Cut back the foliage every year. This will ensure that new sprouts will shoot up and not be choked by the ones that have already died off from the previous season. You can leave the cut foliage right there on your flower bed as it will provide future blooming flowers with the nutrients they need.
